The A350 is part of the family of widebody, the most modern and efficient in the world, and is the undisputed leader in long-haul. It is the lightest, quietest and most efficient aircraft in its class.
The 70% reduction in weight was achieved through the use of advanced and lighter materials, while innovative aerodynamics and the world's most efficient large Rolls-Royce aircraft engine (the Trent XWB) allow the aircraft to optimize range and payload for the benefit of efficiency. Indeed, thanks to the new aircraft, ITA Airways will benefit from a 25% reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 per passenger than previous generation aircraft and any other aircraft in the category.
On the A350-900 every detail is designed with aerodynamic efficiency in mind, from the curved line of the 3D windshield to the opening of the flaps. This state-of-the-art, nature-inspired aerodynamics includes unique wing morphing technology that continuously optimizes the airfoil to reduce drag and lower fuel consumption.
