The Las Vegas airport is unique.

Here one can get married (and divorced), play slots before boarding. And above all, it is Sin City's stopover, although as the years go by, the reason Sin City is called what it is is diluted day by day.

The lounge is in the D gate area which can only be reached via the people mover, so if your flight departs from one of the other areas of the airport know that you will have to go through security, take the little train and walk to the lounge. If you have plenty of time it is worth it, otherwise better to arrive at the last minute and jump on your flight.

When you exit the escalators leading to the gates, you must turn left; the lounge is located at the beginning of the deck leading to the 1/20 boarding gates. There are also two other lounges here: the official United lounge and La Club. The latter is accessible to all Priority Pass holders.

Access

Le Centurion Lounge are owned by American Express. Access is free for all Centurion cardholders, the famous black card, and both personal and corporate Platinum cardholders. It is also possible to have a guest gain free access.

Some U.S. lounges, between high attendance and covid restrictions, often have queuing and crowding problems. As happened to me, for example, in Mexico City.. In this case I was lucky, when I arrived there was no one waiting.

The lounge

All of these Amex-branded lounges have many commonalities. There are stylistic elements and furnishing complements found in all lounges. The services, on the other hand, may vary and the menus are always different.

The room overlooks the runway and allows you to enjoy nice views of the movements between gates, plus it allows you to be in an environment full of natural light and therefore much more relaxing.

There are various rooms with different types of seating. There are also two small rooms reserved for black cardholders, the most exclusive American Express card, who have a higher access priority than "plain" Platinum.

As always, the bar is the heart of these lounges, and it is so because of the quality of the bartenders who work there and make excellent cocktails.

And in America there seems to be no distinction between morning and evening; any hour is right for having a drink on the rocks.

It offers nothing "fancy" compared to that of New York that has the Equinox Room or others that offer the spa or hair salon, but for an airport like Las Vegas, it is absolutely adequate

Food & Beverage

This visit confirms to me how under the aspect of gastronomic offerings. U.S. Centurion Lounges are decidedly inferior to the one European lounge proposal, the one in London. I arrived that it was 8 a.m. and for hot breakfast there were scrambled eggs, a big omelet with some vegetables, and that was it. Then fruit, and little else.

In contrast, the drinking, which I understand is the main fuel of these lounges, flows like wildfire with bottles of hard liquor and beer served from morning to night. And a small island where you can serve yourself.

The world's largest Centurion Lounge is coming soon

In conclusion

These lounges are a certainty, often better even than official airline lounges. It's just too bad that in Europe the only one is in London, but hopefully in the next few years we'll see more of them pop up. In this case, however, it is just basic and does not offer that extra something that Centurions usually do.

This is just one of many reviews you can read on our site, covid and restrictions permitting. Every Wednesday we publish a review of a lounge airport, while every Friday you can read the review of one of our flights or a hotel where we stayed.

  • Centurion lounge
The verdict
The style is classic Centurion, lacking that something extra that would be logical to expect in a lounge in Las Vegas.
