During the summer period, Volotea will operate its network with a fleet of 41 aircraft (up from 36 in summer 2019).In fact, the carrier recently announced the arrival of 6 additional Airbus A320s, including 3 stand-by aircraft that will ensure operational integrity.
Following the expansion of its fleet, Volotea will enrich its offerings, thanks to the increased capacity of the new aircraft and their wider flight radius. In terms of volume, it will increase seat capacity by about 40% compared to 2019, when its offer was 8 million seats. The airline expects to carry between 9 and 9.5 million passengers this year, about 32% more than its all-time high in 2019, when 7.6 million passengers were carried.
Since the beginning of its operations, Volotea has worked to make its flights more eco-efficient and minimize emissions. Since 2012, it has implemented more than 50 sustainability-driven actions, thanks to which it has reduced its carbon footprint per passenger kilometer by more than 41%. In 2022, the airline will introduce sustainable fuels to power its aircraft and will work with the manufacturing and industrial sectors so that these fuels-currently difficult to access-can be developed and deployed on a large scale as soon as possible.
Volotea from Bari
As of Thursday, April 14, Volotea has reinstated the connection departing from Bari to Lyon: the route will provide 2 weekly frequencies.
At the Bari airport, the carrier's offer includes a total of 14 routes, three domestic (Olbia, Venice and Verona) and 11 abroad (Palma de Mallorca, Athens, Corfu, Crete, Mykonos, Preveza/Lefkada, Rhodes, Santorini, Skiathos, Zante and Lyon).

During the summer of 2022, Volotea will offer a wide range of summer destinations at competitive prices, reconfirming all routes departing from Venice to Greece, including one to Calamata, a new connection announced in the past and never operated due to the pandemic.
A total of 32 destinations can be reached with Volotea in Venice, 10 in Italy (Alghero, Bari, Brindisi, Cagliari, Catania, Lampedusa, Naples, Olbia, Palermo and Pantelleria) and 22 abroad (Bilbao, Malaga and Zaragoza in Spain; Athens, Kefalonia, Crete, Kalamata, Karpathos, Mykonos, Preveza, Samos, Santorini, Skiathos and Zakynthos in Greece; Lille (new 2022), Nice (new 2022), Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseille, and Nantes in France; Split in Croatia and Luxembourg), but the carrier estimates offering a total of 35 routes by the end of the year.
In Palermo a second plane
Starting June 10, it will be possible to fly to Athens. The new route will have 2 weekly frequencies (every Tuesday and Friday) and has more than 11,500 tickets on sale.
With the announcement of this route, the total number of seats on sale for summer 2022 in Palermo, where the airline ranks second in terms of number of active routes, rises to about 290,000. In addition, starting in June, following the recent announcement to increase its fleet, Volotea will base one of its Airbus A320s in Palermo.
