Since Southwest's flights can take several hours, the absence of power outlets or USB ports was a real problem. Especially considering the fact that on board airplanes wi-fi is free and allows you to watch live TV, movies, and other content. Sure, a battery pack solves the problem, but being able to plug directly into the plane is more convenient and requires significantly less stress on the passenger.
