We recently wrote about the total redesign that the chain has made to its loyalty program, IHG rewards is now a true benefits-rich program for loyal customers of Intercontinental chain hotels.
Now with the launch of this status match campaign, the group tries to "steal" customers from competitors by guaranteeing a shortcut that leads directly to the two highest levels: Platinum and Diamond.
Here on the pages of TFC, we have told about so many of these campaigns in recent months and this is one of the most interesting in the hotel industry especially for the challenge, i.e., the request to complete, which is definitely affordable: in fact, it does not require any status from which to request the match

This promotion offers Platinum status in advance, so it allows you to maintain Platinum status or upgrade to Diamond status depending on the number of nights spent within 120 days of registration:
- If you stay five nights Within 120 days of registration, You will maintain Platinum status until December 2023
- If you stay 15 nights Within 120 days of registration, you will receive Diamond status until December 2023
Registration for this promotion is available until July 31, 2022: since the challenge must be completed within 4 months, my advice is to sign up on the eve of the first stay so that you do not waste days for nothing and have all 120 days to complete the necessary stays.
Who can participate
To participate you must be a member of a competing program, but you don't need to have a status in the competitive program. Basically, it is enough to be basic level, even without having even slept a night in one of these programs:
- Accor Live Limitless.
- Best Western Rewards.
- Choice Privileges.
- Hilton Honors.
- Marriott Bonvoy.
- Radisson Rewards.
- World of Hyatt.
- Wyndham Rewards.
It is not necessary to have elite status with any of these chains and you don't even have to be an IHG One Rewards member. Simply visit the page, choose your existing program, and then click "Register Now" if you are already an IHG member or "Join and Register" if you are not yet a member.
The special feature is just that: everyone who registers will automatically receive Platinum Elite status for 120 days. Normally obtaining the Platinum Elite level requires a 40-night stay or the earning of 60,000 qualifying points. To rise to the Diamond Elite level requires 70 nights or the earning of 120,000 qualifying points.
The benefits of the two levels
Since you can reach the first two levels of IHG status through this challenge, let's take a look at what benefits you receive at those levels.
With Platinum Elite status, you receive 60% in bonus points on stays with IHG. You will also receive room upgrades upon check-in, if available, as well as a welcome gift of points or a drink/snack.
With Diamond Elite status, you will receive 100% bonus points on stays at IHG properties and room upgrades based on availability. Members also receive the free breakfast for two guests at full-service facilities and points or a drink/snack at limited-service brands. Diamond Elite members also earn the five stars level in the Hertz Gold Plus loyalty program.
The promotion that gives up to four times as many points
The new IHG One Rewards promotion is now active and offers up to 4 bonus points for stays with the hotel program from May 18 to August 31, 2022. As usual, it is necessary to remember that one must register before booking, as well as book and stay by August 31, 2022 to take advantage of this offer.
This promotion is set up as a progressive offer. After registration, members will earn:
- No bonus points for the first night
- 2x bonus points from the second to the fifth night
- 3x bonus points from the sixth to the fourteenth night
- 4x bonus points for 15th night and beyond
