The rumors of recent days have found official confirmation: Japan has reopened its borders.
The entry ban had been lifted in April, but at the same time the possibility of receiving a visa upon arrival at the airport had been lifted. Japan's prime minister, Fumio Kishida, had stated in recent weeks that he would align Japan's border controls with other rich democracies in June, but no further details had been provided.

"The tourists who have been Vaccinated three times and come from the United States, Australia, Thailand and Singapore will be able to take part in the tours, which will be strictly planned in cooperation with travel agencies and accompanied at all times by tour conductors," the premier explained.
"This trial will allow us to verify compliance and emergency responses for infection prevention and to formulate guidelines for travel agencies and accommodation providers to keep in mind," he later stressed.
The test will start in the coming weeks, so it is logical to expect a gradual return to normal during the summer months.
