Every year the travel website AirHelp compiles a ranking of the best e worst airports of the world. Voting is based on. three parameters MAIN: punctuality Of performance, quality of services and supply commercial (i.e. stores, restaurants, hairdressers, etc.).
The first ranking was published in 2015, the rating scale ranges from 1 a 10 and the categories do not all have the same weight: the 60% of the total score is represented by the punctuality of flight departures and arrivals, an important slice then. The other two categories represent the 20% each. The quality of the service goes according to the security and to the cleaning of the airport, while the trade part is evaluated by passengers who test food and options of purchase.
AirHelp explains that the data cannot be suits, but they come from the most known and most used in the world. The most recent ranking saw 131 airports participants and the winner was theHamad International Airport of Doha, Qatar, which totaled 8,39 points out of 10.
But today we are not here to talk about the best airports in the world, but rather the worst and according to AirHelp's ranking as many as 8 out of 10 are in Europe, a thought-provoking revelation.
The 10 worst airports in the world according to AirHelp: the ranking
Eight are located in Europe, the other two, however, are one in the Middle East and the other in North America. Let's look at the ranking in descending order:
10 - London Gatwick Airport, United Kingdom
The total score is 6,62: punctuality is disappointing (5,7), as opposed to service quality (8) and commercial supply (7.9). Each year it serves an average of 6 million of passengers and is the second busiest airport in the United Kingdom.
In online reviews, the airport is cited as "crowded and noisy" and with facilities for children in short supply.
9 - Billy Bishop Airport Toronto City, Canada
Unexpectedly, we find an airport Canadian in the rankings, with an overall score of 6,5: punctuality to 5,8 quality of service 8,1 and commercial offer 7.
It is not a very large airport, serving just under 300.000 passengers the year, on Google reviews though it seems to be fairly well liked.
8 - Porto Airport, Portugal
It's back to Europe, specifically Portugal with Porto Airport scoring an overall score of 6,46 given by punctuality 5,6 quality of services 7,9 and commercial offer 7,6.
Portugal's second busiest airport serves more than 13 million of annual passengers, reviews are somewhat mixed: some say it is one of the best airports in Europe, while others complain about the queues and poor food.
7 - Paris Orly Airport, France
Prior to the opening of Charles de Gaulle in 1974, the airport at Paris Orly was the main French airport, now serving more than 15 million of passengers and scored a total of 6,37 punctually to 5,4, quality of service 7,9 and commercial offer 7,8.
Reviews state that duty-free stores have particular hours and that the code are long.
6 - Manchester Airport, United Kingdom
The third busiest airport in the UK (serving nearly 7 million of passengers per year) totaled 6,26 points with punctuality to 5,2 the quality of service to 7,8 and the commercial offer 8.
Reviews are not great, users complain about the cost of the parking high and delays in baggage delivery.
5 - Malta International Airport, Malta
The only airport in Malta serves nearly 2 million passengers a year and scored sufficiency as an overall score, given by the 5 As punctuality of performance, 7,7 as quality of service and 7,5 As a commercial offering.
Reviews claim that the airport is too small than the number of passengers it serves, seats are scarce, and delays are the order of the day.
4 - Henri Coandă International Airport in Bucharest, Romania
Sufficiency in all categories, score almost even For punctuality, service quality and commercial offerings with: 6, 6,1 e 6. Romania's busiest airport serves almost 7 million Of travelers per year.
Reviews complain of a staff not too hospitable and a structure old.
3 - Eindhoven Airport, Netherlands
The second largest airport in the Netherlands serves almost 7 million of passengers per year, scored an overall score of 5,92 punctually to 4,9 quality of service 7,8 and commercial offer to 7,1.
Reviews are not optimal, users complain about the size not enough for the number of passengers and a staff rude.
2 - Kuwait International Airport, Kuwait City
Surprise on the podium of the world's worst airports, where the international airport of the Kuwait with an overall score of 5,78, Blame poor punctuality that scores 4,3. While as for service and commercial offer, the score is both 8.
The airport serves over 15 million of passengers per year and reviews complain of unprofessional and slow boarding.
1 - Lisbon Portela Airport, Portugal
We have reached the end of the ranking, the airport worst among those analyzed by AirHelp is still located in Portugal and is the 16th busiest airport in Europe with over 31 million Of passengers per year. The overall score is 5,76 given by 4,7 Of punctuality, 7,3 of service quality and 7,4 For commercial offerings.
