The same happens on board airplanes, but in that case the passenger is seated and does not have to do anything even pay attention. The companies know this and have turned the manual demonstration into videos that passengers watch on seat monitors, some of these videos are so beautiful that they are willingly watched, thus achieving the goal of companies that need to inform passengers about the peculiarities of each individual aircraft model.
On cruise ships, however, everything is different: the passenger must, at the appointed time leave the pool, gym, or whatever he or she is doing to go to the room and wait for the emergency signal.
When the 7 rings ring, you must take your life jacket from the booth and go to the designated munster station, which differs from booth to booth. You walk down, because in an emergency the elevators are inhibited, and arrive at your munster station.
Here, normally, you arrive you register your presence and wait for the cease-and-desist signal. Nothing strenuous, but definitely boring.
Costa Cruises has found a way to digitize this experience, especially making the passenger almost autonomous in deciding when to do it, within certain stakes.
This can now be done via cell phone, on the official Costa app or in the cabin on the television. At the end of the video, which lasts about ten minutes, a small test is given with questions or a check via the room phone.
An hourly appointment is then set for the final verification. The beauty is precisely that the demonstration can be done while eating or sipping cocktails poolside.
The only "hassle" will have to be to show up at the designated time with the life jacket at the collection point.
