In these months of covid travel period I think I was particularly unlucky in my choice of dates. Of course, I traveled to every reachable place, however, I always caught the wrong date.
I was transiting England on the last day where the incoming swab was needed, I would take off to return to Italy the day before the end of the PLF obligation. I would take off for the United States two days before the pre-departure buffer obligation ended, and so on. The only time that went well for me, Was when I was coming back from Thailand to Italy.: It was the first day when the pre-departure swab was no longer needed. But nobody knew that, so I lost almost an hour at check-in.
Instead, today I can be happy, as with immediate effect Australia has removed all restrictions for passengers headed for Sydney, Melbourne and the other cities. Pre-departure and arrival buffers had already been eliminated in recent weeks, and as of today (July 6), goodbye to the last remaining requirements: submit Australia DPD And prove that they are vaccinated.
Perfect timing since I am leaving in 3 days for my very own RTW, or trip around the world, and Sydney will be just one of my stops. The motivation is definitely related to simplifying the return of Australian passengers from winter vacations around the world, but the change applies to everyone, even for those traveling in the opposite direction.
