Japan's borders continue to be closed, and tentative signs of reopening do not suggest that things will change in the short term.
ITA Airways has therefore decided to permanently postpone the debut of the link to Tokyo Haneda, initially scheduled for June, then postponed to late summer. Too difficult to make firm predictions, hence the decision announced today to move the takeoff to October 31, 2022.
The flight will be operated three times a week: from Rome every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, and from Tokyo every Monday, Thursday and Saturday. It will then become daily from April 2023.
The link will initially be operated with A330s, formerly Alitalia, subsequently, depending on demand, it is possible that the Italian company may decide to place on this route, the only direct connection between Italy and Japan, the new flagship the A350/900.
Tickets can already be booked on ITA's website and the various OTAs. Being operated with the old Alitalia machines, this route will be operated with planes with the three-class configuration: business, premium eco and eco.
Summer 2023 also on sale
As of today, it is possible to book airline tickets for the 2023 summer season on the flag carrier's entire operating schedule. In fact, ITA Airways has already uploaded to all sales channels the planned operations for the upcoming summer season, thus allowing customers to plan their future vacations well in advance, under the banner of an offer that is increasingly dedicated and attentive to passenger needs.
No news at the moment on long-haul destinations, but this is logical given that the future owner of the Italian company will be known shortly.
