Airbnb is launching an offer designed for travel-minded cinephiles. Its catalog of homes for rent adds a dream home, the value of which is magnified out of all proportion by the fact that it was used for one of the most famous movies in film history: The Godfather. That's right, the Corleone family mansion can become your vacation home. Time is short, however, so you have to hurry.
The Godfather villa on Airbnb
One of the most exploited and iconic locations of Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather is undoubtedly the Corleone family mansion. To celebrate 50 years since the release of the first chapter of the celebrated trilogy, which came to theaters in 1972, Airbnb has announced the possibility of renting the property for up to five people.
The lucky ones will treat themselves to a summer impossible to forget. If the emotional value is extremely high, the architectural value is no less so. It is in fact a 1930s Tudor-style mansion. It is located in Staten Island, a New York, specifically in the Todt Hill neighborhood.
As mentioned, however, time is limited. The villa can only be rented for the month of August 2022. Reservations are starting at 1 p.m. on July 27. We will also point you to the price list below. If you've been thinking about flying to New York this summer, and were a bit undecided, this may be the news that can push you toward this overseas adventure.
Villa The Godfather: how it has changed
Over the years, different renovations have been made to the Staten Island mansion chosen by Francis Ford Coppola for The Godfather. It was not overturned, mind you, but work was needed to restore it to its former glory, with some slightly more modern additions.
Exteriors and interiors are largely identical to those in the film. You can still feel the 1970s atmosphere of the film, with five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, saltwater pool, basement pub and game room.
The area is more than 1,000 square meters. It is good to know, however, how many interiors in the film were actually shot at the former Filmways Studios in Harlem, such as the famous studio of Don Vito Corleone, aka Marlon Brando. Instead, Connie's wedding and the boss's death scene were filmed here.
Villa The Godfather on Airbnb: prices
If you are considering booking the villa from The Godfather for your August 2022 vacation, know that the prices on Airbnb are not prohibitive at all. Surprising news. Indeed, this is an initiative that pays homage to the film and is not meant to be elitist. The cost is 50 dollars per night.
