The news bounced around the world after the local newspaper Austonia launched it: Elon Musk is ready to make his private airport in Austin, in Texas. A place not at all chosen at random, of course, since. Tesla has opened one of its new Gigafactories in the area. The goal would be to extend a helping hand to its employees at Tesla, SpaceX, and The Boring Company. Truth be told, however, the CEO tends to travel about 250,000 miles each year. It goes without saying that an airport always available and within walking distance could make all the difference.
Private airport: Elon Musk brings clarity
Is it true that Elon Musk is ready to create his own private airport, for himself and his employees? The Tesla CEO explained his idea through his official Twitter profile. Since the indiscretion was launched, much has been written about this alleged mammoth project. The Washington Post in 2019 highlighted how Musk was in possession of four jets. A collection that featured within it a $70 million Gulfstream G650ER, a $60 million G550, and a $26 million Dassault Falcon 900B. Will all this find a place in the hypothetical hangars under construction? After much optimism, here are some doubts. Getting the permits bureaucratic by the EPA and the FAA Is something very complex. While it is true that with money you can achieve anything, the argument changes when it comes to safety. So many criteria have to be taken into account, with an environmental and air traffic impact study that could have trashed the dream before we even started thinking about it in earnest. Can Musk really do it all? The fact that he got the better of bureaucracy and environmental protesters in Germany, where he built his Gigafactory (in Berlin), speaks volumes.
This time, however, the talk is quite different. Indeed, the creator of SpaceX has rejected the rumors about himself. No such project is planned. It seems absurd that so much info has been circulated without any concrete basis. Many believe that Musk has abandoned the idea, given the great complications. It had been pointed out that the location was somewhere east of Austin, near the town of Bastrop. All on a 73-acre site.
Not true. Tesla is 5 mins from Austin International airport. Would be silly to build another private airport, however the existing commercial airport needs another runway, as Austin is growing fast!
