One of Cancun's most iconic properties and one of the best places to take advantage of Bonvoy points will be exiting the Marriott portfolio at the end of the month.
I visited this facility in the spring just using a handful of Bonvoy points, one of the best conversions I have been able to achieve using Marriott points.
The news of the facility's exit from the Marriott family was confirmed at the LoyaltyLobby site.
The future of this facility is currently unclear. In order to remain at the levels that are demanded of a Ritz Carlton it would have to be heavily renovated, one choice might be to change signage by moving to a lower level one still within the Marriott group.
Personally, if I were to return to Cancun I would resume at the Renaissance, also from the Marriott family, which has so many pros even without being a real resort like the Ritz Carlton.
