With this review the triptych of lounges currently present in Terminal 1 is concluded, also known as Pier A, at Rome Fiumicino. The other two are. Piazza Venezia, ITA Airways' lounge, and the Star Alliance lounge. All these waiting rooms are located in the same spot, namely the old boarding area, and are far From the newly opened terminal.
Access
In this article:
This lounge is available primarily to Priority Pass holders, but thanks to agreements with some airlines it can also be used by passengers who have status with some of these companies. To find out for sure who can access, I recommend using this app.
Location
As mentioned, it is the old part of Terminal 1, the A1/10 gate area, is about ten minutes away from the new terminal, and if you are "unlucky" with your departing flight, at the end of the terminal it is good to add another 5 minutes of walking.
This location makes it inconvenient and complicated to pop into the lounge if you are short on time, unless your flight departs from nearby gates.
The hall
The nice thing about these three lounges is that because they are in the same area, they are all very similar. Prima Vista's entrance is exactly on the opposite side from ITA Airways.
Past the reception desk, on the right is the buffet.
There are then two main areas divided by the body of the structure. The first in front of the buffet and the second at the end of the hall.
The second is the one that is definitely more aesthetically pleasing.
All along the window, there is an immense counter with high seats, in my opinion the best seats in the lounge.
It's just too bad that the windows are not cleaned frequently, otherwise the view of the runway would be really great-this side overlooks Terminal 3, the intercontinental terminal.
Food & Beverage
As with the other lounges at FCO, the buffet is served, here it must be said it goes very much by the moment and by the day. I can't complain about the offer, just cold, present.
An attendant serves what is ordered, all very quick and clean. There is no bar, as both ITA and Star Alliance have, always the same attendant pours drinks, but the choice is very small.
In conclusion
Of the three lounges, this is the one where it is easiest to get in, but it is the one with the least quality. Nonetheless, if we keep in mind that this is the area for Schengen flights, it does its job fully and is even better than other lounges I have frequented lately around Europe and beyond.
