Singapore returns to pre-COVID travel rules, the Asian city-state government has in fact announced that, as of August 29, there will no longer be any vaccine-based differentiation regarding quarantine for both residents and visitors entering the country. This effectively means that, Regardless of vaccination status, it will be possible to travel to the former British protectorate without any seven-day self-isolation period or any post-arrival testing.
There will be no more need to obtain entry clearance, the only requirement for the unvaccinated remains that they must undergo a pre-departure test before embarking on a direct flight to Singapore, a test that is not necessary if you are only transiting through Changi Airport instead.
Singapore follows by a few months the decisions made by authorities in Australia, Cambodia, India, Laos, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam, nations that have abolished the requirement for visitors to be fully vaccinated in order to travel for tourism. All this while instead China, Hong Kong and Japan continue in their policy of closed borders.
As of Aug. 29, 2022, Singapore will also eliminate the legal requirement to wear masks indoors, which means that it will be optional to wear a face cover in both outdoor and indoor environments. This includes both public and transit areas of theSingapore Changi Airport, but mask use will still be a requirement in the following high-risk situations such as aboard buses and subways
At the same time from August 29, the requirement to wear face masks on board Singapore Airlines planes will also be removed. As is customary, however, this decision also depends on the regulations of the countries where the flight is operated.
In this case, passengers on board the connections from Rome and Milan will be exempted from wearing masks, while conversely if you fly from Frankfurt it will still be mandatory to wear the protective device.
