One of the few places where you are forcibly disconnected is aboard an airplane, lacking wi-fi, or even in the case where the connection is offered but is not available to all passengers because a fee is charged. It so happens that passengers on a flight learn about what has happened in the world a few hours late, often through the voice of the captain. Last year, videos of Italy's European Championship victory celebration announced late in the evening aboard a flight full of Italians made the rounds on the Web.
This time, however, it fell to the commander of flight BA178, which took off from New York's JFK airport, to break the tragic news to passengers bound for London, many of them subjects who took off with a Queen and landed on their island subject to a new King: Charles III of England.

One of the travelers recorded a video inside the aircraft cabin when the news was announced. While some passengers and crew members were unable to hold back tears, others were stunned to learn of the event. "Surreal to be on a British Airways flight to London today, the pilot announced the Queen's death" this was the comment that accompanied the video.
"We will have some time to reflect because we have 40 minutes before landing. We will all think about his family at this time," the pilot said.
