Between January and August, at the network level, Volotea operated about 44,000 flights, amounting to a supply of 7.2 million seats for sale (+82% compared to 2021 and +31% compared to 2019). In total, the carrier carried 6.5 million passengers with a load factor of 90%.
The numbers in Italy
In Italy, in the summer months (Jun-Aug), carrier capacity increased by 19% compared to summer 2021, with an offer of about 2 million seats for sale. Also up (+18.6%) was the number of flights operated, which increased from 9,800 last summer to over 11,350 in Summer22. Volotea has transported more than 1,800,000 passengers to Italy, totaling an increase of 23% over last summer period. Finally, it should not be forgotten that, this summer, the company intensified domestic connections, strengthening flights between the islands and the mainland: in particular, seats on domestic flights to Italy were 63% while those to the islands were 86%.
This year the yearning for normalcy could be felt everywhere and the desire to return to travel is certainly the most obvious manifestation of this.
Italy, which remains one of the key countries in Volotea's strategies, has benefited from much of the investment made by the carrier, which has enabled it to ensure growth in traffic volumes despite difficulties due to generalized shortages of flight and ground personnel.
