The end of the year is approaching, so it seems important to me to shed light on the rules of the various loyalty programs in light of a return to normalcy and a farewell to facilitated routes. All to avoid losing status (minor problem) or losing points (capital mistake).
La first installment of our special "Goodbye helpers" is dedicated to British Airways And the rules of the Executive Club.
He had said it last year, he Reiterated several times during 2022 and, despite Airmageddon prompted many travelers to stay away from London Heathrow, British Airways has not changed its mind and sent an email to Executive Club members reminding them that as of Jan. 1, it is back to pre-pandemic requirements.
There is a small however
The change takes effect on Jan. 1, which means. If qualifying points (Tier) are achieved. needed before that date, the level will be renewed with the reduced thresholds of 25%.
- If you have already renewed or upgraded your level, you will continue to enjoy the benefits of your current level until the expiration date of your card, which is shown on the your digital card in the British Airways app and on ba.com.
- You can continue to benefit from the current 25% reduction on tier thresholds until December 31, 2022.
- From January 1, 2023, to renew or upgrade your tier status, you will have to reach the full thresholds, with no possibility of discounts.
Current thresholds
- Bronze: 225 Tier Points or 18 eligible flights;
- Silver: 450 Tier Points or 37 eligible flights;
- Gold: 1125 level points
Thresholds from January 1, 2023
- Bronze: 300 Tier Points or 25 eligible flights;
- Silver: 600 Tier Points or 50 eligible flights;
- Gold: 1500 level points
Tier points are also earned by flying with Oneworld airlines and BA's partners, however, in order to gain status you must also fly (paying) with British Airwyas. To be Bronze you need at least two routes, for Silver or Gold at least 4.
In conclusion
I would have expected some dilatory action on the part of BA., the chaos in London forced thousands of users to change plans, choose other carriers, or not travel at all. Of course it is also true that BA has helped old and new frequent flyers so much.
