Of course one could say that the problems in life are other, but for first-class award ticket hunters this is a real drama. Monday, Oct. 31, will be the last day on which Dom Perignon will be served aboard Singapore Airlines planes.. I wrote the news just as I got off a Singapore Airlines plane. and after drinking almost a bottle of the most famous of champagnes.
Now, with a few days to go before the deadline, the reasons behind the Asian carrier's announcement that Taittinger will be served from November 1 instead of Dom emerge.
From Nov. 1, Dom Perignon will become, in the skies, an exclusive of Emirates and only this company will then be able to serve the world's most famous champagne to its passengers. I dare not imagine the amount of bottles the Dubai-based carrier has booked from Moët & Chandon, which bottles the prized label in Épernay, a commune in the Champagne-Ardenne region.
The reason then is not one of lack of funds or choice of a cheaper label, but a necessary move having Emirates obtained an agreement from the French fashion house that will allow it to be the only company in the world that can offer its guests this label.

Carriers are increasingly trying to attract passengers not only by offering more exclusive cabins, but also by grabbing them by the throat. From economy to first class, menus are increasingly refined and wine lists refined. Here is a summary diagram of the first-class labels offered around the world by the few carriers that still offer the most exclusive cabin
Carrier | Champagne served in first class |

Carriers focus on very few labels, personally I am surprised that JAL alone has focused on Cristal, one of the most fashionable bottles among young people.
