Volotea continues to adjust summer network: flights from Palermo to Santorini

Carriers continue to adjust the summer network, the one where they make money and where planes travel at full throttle and loaded with passengers.

Volotea heats up the engines in Sicily and, after announcing in the past weeks two new connections to Florence and Toulouse, today confirmed the launch of the new Palermo-Santorini route. The new destination, reachable from June 1, 2023 every Monday and Thursday, raises Volotea's signature routes at the airport to 18. At Palermo next year, the airline estimates it will hit the runway with a total supply of more than 430,000 seats for sale, representing an increase of 36% vs. 2022.

There are 18 destinations connected by Volotea to Palermo airport, 7 in Italy (Ancona, Florence - New 2023, Naples, Olbia, Turin, Venice and Verona) and 11 abroad: 3 in Greece (Athens, Zakynthos and Santorini - New 2023) and 8 in France (Deauville, Lille, Lyon, Lourdes, Nantes, Nice, Strasbourg and Toulouse - New 2023).

Since its first flight, Volotea has focused heavily on Sicily, establishing such a synergistic relationship with Palermo that in 2013 it inaugurated one of its operational bases right at Falcone Borsellino. As a result of this important investment, Volotea has intensified traffic to and from the airport, with a considerable economic spin-off generated by tourist flows in transit. In addition, it should not be forgotten that with the Volotea base, numerous job opportunities have materialized in Palermo: in 2022 alone, the Volotea team at the airport numbers 40 people, including pilots and cabin crew.

Thanks to an attractive flight portfolio and competitive fares, Volotea has been able to win the trust of its Sicilian passengers: about 360,000 passengers were carried at Falcone Borsellino from the beginning of 2022 to October. In addition, at the airport, the company has operated more than 1,700 flights, totaling a load factor of 91%.
