Review Senator Lounge Lufthansa Frankfurt (Gate B area)

Frankfurt airport is huge and of course here in its hub, Lufthansa has many lounges, different depending on the type of passenger.

The different Lufthansa lounges

There are essentially three types of lounges owned by the German flag carrier:

1. Business Lounge. They are accessible to all business class passengers, even without status, traveling with Lufthansa or another Star Alliance partner or member carrier. If you do not have status, you cannot bring guests, otherwise it depends on the level and rules of the program. There is also the Ability to access with American Express Platinum.
2. Senator Lounge. They are one level higher than the Business lounges; these lounges are accessed regardless of travel class because in charge is the level you have in the Lufthansa or Star Alliance loyalty program. One must be at least Senator to enter, with a guest for free, or have Gold Star Alliance status.
3. First Class Terminal. First Class passengers and those who hold the HON Circle level have access to Frankfurt's dedicated terminal for major customers. LH, in addition to having "simple" First Class lounges used by transit passengers, also has an entire terminal dedicated to those departing Frankfurt in First Class.

N.B. If you travel first class with ANA or Singapore Airlines you still do not have access to Lufthansa's First Class lounges and have to make do with Senator or Air Canada's

Location

This lounge has an entrance in the B42 gate area, the desk where the ticket is scanned is on the same floor as the stores and gates. We are in the wing for flights to the U.S. and Canada, this is where you enter after document control. I don't think there's any problem whatsoever going through this part of the terminal since it's all handled by the automated gates, but you obviously need your passport.

Passing through the first door, you go up to the upper floor where the lounge is located.

The lounge

My flight was leaving at 8 a.m. and,when I arrived around 7 o'clock, the lounge was virtually deserted, immaculate and neat. A very different thing from the way the Senator Lounge in the Schengen area usually is, which is a real seaport.

The hall overlooks the runway, too bad only that sunrise here is much later than here in Italy, so at 7:40 a.m. it was still dark.

I must say that aesthetically it is much nicer than the one I usually pass by, which is the Schengen one.

In front of the entrance is an area reserved for first class passengers, the bar, and a lounge area. This is definitely the quietest area of the lounge.

Instead, to the right of the entrance is the busiest area, where the buffet is located (it's back!).

On the opposite side from the "restaurant" area, there is instead a runway overlook with sofas and seating with a view. This lounge perfectly represents the spirit of Lufthansa and of Germany in general. No headshots, just solid certainties.

Services

There are of course bathrooms and showers, but I was surprised to find a spa, offered in partnership with Chi-Mas.

Unlike with Air France and with the few other companies that still offer this service in the waiting rooms, there are no free treatments. Everything is chargeable, and it is definitely not cheap.

There is a work zone, from which I am writing this review.

There is a smoking area.

There are lockers where you can secure backpacks and bags, not the larger trolleys though.

And finally newspapers are back. I know I who live only digital should not get excited about the presence of print media, but instead it is something that when I travel long distances I always like to have with me.

Food & Beverage

FINALLY we are back to the buffet like in the old days, goodbye to the reduced menu and service, at least in this lounge. But Even when I was in London this summer it was like that.

The quality of the offerings is remarkable, and the buffet is impeccable in both variety and presentation. There is literally everything and for all types of breakfast.

But in an airport lounge, especially in a mega airport like Frankfurt, if it is morning for some it is afternoon for others and late at night for others. So here it is that on drinks instead there is no distinction.

The wine cellar is open, and you can easily switch from cappuccino to champagne, fresh squeezed orange juice to Bloody Mary.

In conclusion

Sehr Schon! Very nice, lounge that offers not dreams but solid certainties. In the end you don't ask for the moon, when you enter these places you want to wait for your flight in the best way possible and this Senator fulfills its role perfectly.
