We were back when Rolls-Royce, giant also in the world of engines for commercial and non-commercial aviation, a few months ago decided not to renew its research agreement with Boom, effectively leaving the aircraft without engines, arguing that "the supersonic commercial aviation market is not currently a priority."
The renunciation by Rolls-Royce had worried the investors, as we know American Airlines e United Airlines invested in the company by ordering the first supersonic aircraft.
But now there is an important update, the Boom Supersonic project, with its Boom Overture plane, can go ahead: there are engines.

Boom Technology's new partner will be the Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, i.e., a company, as the name suggests, that operates in the field of security and defense, realizing weapons, self-driving systems, drones, defense rocketry and combat systems.
Not surprisingly, a company in the field military is interested in a supersonic jet, it has to be seen now whether Kratos will only commit to making the engines or will invest also in the company.
But not only them, other partnerships have just been signed as well:
- Florida Turbine Technologies (FTT) will manage the planning, a company owned by the very Kratos
- GE Additive Will do "additive technology design consulting"
- StandardAero Will work on the maintenance side
The new engine is called "Symphony," let's see the official presentation of the newly made concept:
The entrance to variable geometry with telescopic tip in design would allow the direction of the exhaust as needed at different speeds, optimizing the performance And keeping the noise low. The turbine will be high-pressure and will be passively cooled, all of which, together with the use of materials cutting edge and light, will allow a high efficiency keeping the consumption of fuel.

The first Boom Overture plane is expected to fly by the 2029 as announced by the company, the slowdown caused by Rolls-Royce's abandonment seems not to have put too much of a dent in the project, certainly the announcement of new partners before the end of the year helped to avoid losing credibility.
