This brings to 11 the number of airports served by British Airways in Italy, starting next April 26 in fact Florence will be connected with London Heathrow with a daily flight.
Florence London schedules
The new flight, BA524, will operate daily from Florence to the London Heathrow Terminal 5 at 11:50 a.m. on an A320Neo aircraft arriving in the London Hub at 1:05 p.m. local time.
The opposite direction flight, BA525, takes off at 7:50 a.m. to arrive in the Tuscan capital at 11 a.m.
The schedules are perfect for Italian travelers heading to the English capital and for those who want to fly via London to one of the British airline's many destinations instead. In particular, the timings are perfect for connections to U.S. destinations. Flight schedules have been optimized for connectivity to popular routes, including New York, Boston and Chicago."
Neil Chernoff, Director of Networks and Alliances at British Airways, said, "We know that our customers love to visit Tuscany, which is why we already operate flights from London City to Florence. We have added this new route from London Heathrow to the Tuscan capital to give them even more choice to explore this incredible Italian region.
The announcement comes on the very day when the direct connection of Aeroitalia right from Florence to London Heathrow.
Flying to London with Avios points costs only 50 cents
I have already had the opportunity to tell how the Avios points are an incredible currency for flying from Italy to London spending practically nothing, thanks to BA's policy of not applying any fuel surcharge for award flights In the short/medium range.
Flying from Florence to London Heathrow on an economy, flexible ticket that includes checked baggage costs only 50 cents one way plus 12,250 avios points. For a round-trip ticket you will then spend 1 euro and 24,500 avios points.
Avios points, unfortunately, can no longer be accumulated by shopping at Esselunga, but there are still plenty of other options left. Like shopping at the Fidenza outlet or transfer American Express membership rewards points, or still it is always possible buy points and book using this currency instead of cash.
