Free fast track arrives at Fiumicino for all, it's called QPass

QPass has been operational at Fiumicino Airport since yesterday. The Qpass is a free service that allows passengers to book an appointment at security checkpoints to take advantage of a dedicated entrance and route. To date, in order to take advantage of fast track at the airport. you had to travel business class or higher, be a frequent flyer, or own a credit card such as American Express Platinum. Now, however, this new mode completely changes the scenario for all passengers.

Fiumicino is the first airport in Italy to offer this service, in operation at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. QPass is totally free of charge and is in addition to the other types of security control access: the premium Fast Track service, the Family line (dedicated to families with strollers) and the "traditional" security gates.

The service brings direct practical benefits: through this system the passenger can arrange in advance his or her time before the flight, easily pass through security control, thus having more time for himself or herself, for example, to shop or eat something, before his or her boarding. This is precisely why it is the passenger himself who chooses the time window from those available for the booked access service, being able to manage his needs in this way in a practical and efficient way."

How QPass works at Fiumicino

Accessing the service is super easy and requires no registration: the passenger can make the reservation from the comfort of home or at the airport, starting from 7 days before the flight, through the website www.adr.it/qpass to the booking page where you enter the flight, the number of people departing and the e-mail address.

The passenger will be able to choose from the available appointment times for your flight by booking the one that best suits your needs. Once your reservation is complete, you will receive a QR Code and a confirmation e-mail containing terminal and appointment time information.

It will be sufficient to show up at the reservation time at the QPass entrance of the security gate, show the QR Code to access the dedicated entrance and queue for quick and easy security checks.

The service marks the Italian debut of Clear, a company that specializes in airport security services, especially in the U.S. where it allows Clear service subscription holders to skip screening and move quickly through boarding at airports nationwide.

In conclusion

I am curious to see this service in operation. I wonder how the attendants will behave if you arrive late because he queued too long at check-in, or if the passenger arrives earlier than expected. Of course for the traveler, once in a while, Booking the Qpass can help reduce the stress of travel. I will try it as soon as I can.
