JFK is the main airport in New York City. for those arriving on an intercontinental flight, the one where most of the carriers that connect our country with the U.S. fly, with the exception of United, which flies solely to Newark, New Jersey.

Who flies to JFK

In this article:

We start, of course, with ITA Airways flying from Rome, up to 3 flights per day, and Milan 1 daily connection. Neos, the low-cost carrier owned by the Alpitour group, also flies regularly to this airport also from Malpensa. Both Italian carriers arrive and take off from Terminal 1.

Delta and American Airlines fly from Italy to New York and land at Terminal 4 and Terminal 8, respectively. European carriers fly to both JFK, mainly, and Newark. So the advice is to evaluate well before booking.

    Moving from JFK

Having gone through security, depending on the terminal where you are, you have various options for deciding to get to the hotel or apartment where you will stay in the Big Apple. The options are varied:

Did you get your flight cancelled, miss your connection, land late?

You could get up to 600€ compensation per person

The fastest is definitely the helicopter. There are several operators, the most reliable in my opinion is Blade which takes us from the airport to the Lower East Side of Manhattan in less than 10 minutes.

The cheapest is the metro. For less than 11$ per person you can get to Manhattan in about 90 minutes. You take the Airtrain first and from there the line into Manhattan with the option then to switch to the other lines to reach your final destination

The most convenient is the cab. The fare is fixed at $62 + surcharges, but it will never exceed 70$, considering that it picks up outside the terminal and takes us all the way to the front door of the hotel is undoubtedly the best option especially if you are traveling as a family/group

The most expensive is Uber/Lyft and the other ridesharing apps. The cost is seldom less than 100$, for the same trip that by cab costs a little more than half, also the pick-up is not done near the terminal, but you have to go to the designated areas

The one I don't understand shuttle buses. There are minibus services that, booked in advance, pick up in the arrivals area and make stops at various hotels in Manhattan. They cost more than the subway, less than cabs but also take twice as long (in addition to the initial wait)

Tell me what kind of traveler you are I will tell you what to choose

Helicopter if traveling light and alone, this is definitely the best solution. It is the most expensive one, but with this invitation code you can save 50$, but it is the most exclusive and fastest way to get to Manhattan or end the trip on a high note.

If you have an embarked suitcase, it is not worth taking this means, the same if the hand luggage is super heavy.

The subway if it's not your first time in New York. and/or you don't have too much luggage. Obviously, it's fine for newbies, but moving with the time difference, in the chaotic and unmodern NY metro may not be the best impact.

Subway leads, virtually everywhere, and it is the cheapest possible mode and, barring any problems, it is also the one that has the certain time. The only jarring note is that you will hardly find elevators, accessible stations, and escalators. This means that if you have a lot of luggage you will struggle quite a bit.

Cab if you are traveling as a family, don't want to stress or have a lot of luggage. He picks you up in front of the terminal, or in front of the hotel, and for a fixed fee that has now increased slightly, he takes you to your destination.

The problem is that it could take you even longer than 2 hours, you may struggle to find a taxi driver willing to take you to the airport from Manhattan, and the delay could cause you to miss your plane or ruin your first day in the Big Apple.

The problem with Uber, Lyft, and other ridesharing apps is that they are more expensive than cabs, up to three times as much in peak hours, that you have to wait for them, and that they do not travel faster than yellow cab,
