Aeroitalia and Wizz Air cut routes: Ryanair launches rescue fares
From Florence to Milan Bergamo and Malpensa, Ryanair relaunches rescue fares to accommodate Italian travelers affected by flight cancellations

Ryanair launched a rescue fee on 19 routes to welcome Italian travelers interested in the Aeroitalia cancellations to/from Milan Bergamo and Florence for summer 2023. The same decision was made by the company to come to the aid of Italian travelers affected by the Wizz Air's cancellation of routes from Milan Malpensa to Palermo and Brindisi starting Feb. 5, in addition to the cancellation already made on the route from Rome Fiumicino to Catania.
- In the first case, Italian customers who have booked flights on routes to/from Milan Bergamo and Florence for the summer of 2023 can travel on one of Ryanair's more than 40 weekly connections from Milan Bergamo or from nearby Pisa (for customers who had booked flights from Florence), for travel in February and March '23.
- In the second case, Italian customers who have booked flights on routes from Milan Malpensa to Palermo and Brindisi can travel on one of Ryanair's more than 40 weekly flights from Palermo to Milan, the more than 30 weekly flights from Brindisi to Milan, or the more than 50 weekly flights from Rome to Catania.
Mauro Bolla of Ryanair, stated: "Ryanair is once again saving the day after flight cancellations by Aeroitalia, having now canceled all but one of its routes from Florence in addition to nearly half of its routes from Milan Bergamo."
Bolla, moreover, added: "As Wizz Air further reduces its presence in Italy, having canceled all but one route from Palermo, as well as the one from Rome Fiumicino to Catania, Ryanair as Italy's No. 1 airline once again saves the day with a rescue fare starting at just €29.99 to accommodate Italian travelers affected by Wizz Air's latest cancellations."
