Wizz Air closes Bari and launches new summer routes from Rome and Milan
The airline will have a total of 11 aircraft based at Rome Fiumicino and will reach 279 routes in total from Italy

Wizz Air decided to closing its base at Bari airport and - at the same time - announced another expansion from the country, allocating three of its brand new Airbus A321neo aircraft to its Italian bases: two at Rome Fiumicino and one at Milan Malpensa. The allocation of additional aircraft will enable the launch of four new routes, starting in summer 2023, and increased frequencies on two routes.
L'Assignment of two more aircraft to Rome Fiumicino base will grow the Wizz Air base to a total of 11 aircraft. The expansion will bring the number of Airline's routes from Rome to a total of 67 in summer 2023, including the two newly launched routes. Passengers will now be able to fly with Wizz Air Rome to Funchal (Madeira, Portugal) and Memmingen (Germany). In addition, the additional capacity will enable Wizz Air to. Increase the frequency of flights from its base in Rome to Barcelona (Spain), Paris Orly (France), Dortmund (Germany) and Prague (Czech Republic).
Milan Malpensa will receive an additional aircraft, thus becoming a base with seven aircraft. Wizz Air will introduce, in fact, Two new routes to Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) and Madrid (Spain), starting in July 2023. With this expansion, the airline will operate a Total of 37 routes from Milan Malpensa to 22 countries in Europe and the Middle East.
This summer, Wizz Air will also launch a new route from Rome to Vilnius (Lithuania) operated with its aircraft based in the Lithuanian city, for a total of five new routes available to Wizz Air passengers in Italy.

The assignment of three additional aircraft to Rome Fiumicino and Milan Malpensa allows us to further strengthen our offering, giving customers the opportunity to travel to four new destinations from Rome and Milan. In total, we now offer 279 routes from Italy to 38 countries in Europe and beyond."
