In 2021, when I flew London to Singapore, and back, we were still in a slow phase of restarting travel and many lounges were still closed. Or perhaps it would be better to say that almost all lounges were still closed, this one at BA included.

In the end so I had tried the only two open lounges, but this time, however, everything was different. The airport was pretty much the same as before. Lots of flights, lots of passengers, and all the lounges open. The best is definitely the one in Qatar, But the others also defend themselves.

This lounge is located in the central part of Terminal 1, the one from which flights depart not only by BA, but by the vast majority of non-Star Alliance carriers such as Singapore and others.

On the same level are two other lounges: the SAST premiere lounge and the Qantas business class lounge.

Access

In order to gain access to this room, one must travel at least in business class with British Airways Or with any other OneWorld carrier.

Of course, it is also possible to gain access by taking advantage of loyalty program benefits. In this case you must have Silver status or higher in the BA executive club or at least the sapphire level in one of the Oneworld airlines' loyalty programs.

The lounge

Unfortunately, like almost all lounges at Singapore's T1 it has no view of the runway, but in this case the view is of the terminal, the public area the one before the customs checkpoints.

Immediately after the entrance, there is a closed door with The Bar written on it. This space is exclusively for First Class passengers flying British Airways. To access you must have a PIN to open the door. Code that is communicated via app or by the assistant at the front desk.

The Bar is nothing more than the shortened version of the Concorde Room, which is the lounge exclusively for the most important passengers departing from London Heathrow.

The lounge for all other passengers, on the other hand, is a huge open space where spaces are defined by the furniture or alcuen small walls in the central part.

There are mainly armchairs, all with power outlets, arranged along the glass wall.

At the back of the room is a more comfortable area if you need to work on a computer, with a table at which to hold a meeting. Admittedly, not as nice as in Tokyo's SkyClub, but still very convenient with power outlets and the ability to print documents in the peripheral available to all guests.

In the center part of the room is a small TV area, with armchairs oriented toward a screen.

Finally, there is the buffet area that occupies the heart of the lounge, with differentiated islands for drinking and eating.

Inside The Bar of course there is a real bar with service appropriate for first-class passengers.

Food & Beverage

In recent months BA has dropped all covid restrictions. and restored service to 100%, on board as well as on the ground. It has, however, retained the ability to order food directly at the table thanks to the QR located near each seat.

By scanning the code, you access the menu of the day, which offers pretty much the same things that are available in the buffet, only you are served by the room staff.

Then there are dishes that instead can only be ordered via App and are shown with a "mockup"  In the buffet area.

The buffet è really rich in offerings. Asian dishes, more international dishes, salad and even an ever-present chocolate cake.

There really is everything from fruit to madleines to sandwiches. In short, impossible not to fill your stomach before the flight.

The beverage offerings are also rich and varied, from classic hot drink machines to a selection of teas to an abundant selection of alcoholic offerings. There are various wine options, super spirits and even a list of cocktails to order from the staff.

The Services

As mentioned, there is a small business corner, there is wifi and showers. Nothing else.

In conclusion

It is a very "good" lounge. The offerings for OneWorld passengers at this airport are really immense. If you can get in of course the ultimate is the Qatar lounge, practically a starred restaurant (for free). Then there are the two lounges from Qantas and this one from BA.

I would say that this is inferior to Qatar's and is competing with Qantas' First whose review will come out in the next few weeks.
