Hilton Paris CDG, perfect as a foothold near the airport

The hotels near airports Are never exceptional facilities. They serve mainly as support for an early morning flight or when you land late in the evening and do not have the ability to move otherwise. The only one that stands out is the TWA Hotel at JFK in New York that is worth a night.

Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport has many hotels nearby, some facilities such as this Hilton are connected to the terminals via the CDGVAL line that connects the various terminals and parking lots.

Others, however, can be reached, via shuttle, from Rossypole Station.

Reservation

Ours was a real touch-and-go. Due to a commitment, we had to reschedule a flight and found ourselves having to spend the night in Paris, unable to go downtown because of limited time.

Of the various options, I chose this Hilton to accumulate points and qualifying nights. Not so much for status, since the HHonors program had already decided to extend the level to all members for another year, but to take advantage of the overnight stay and Trigger the 10 thousand point HHonors milestone bonus: a bonus that alone can be worth a free night at many of the group's facilities.

Location

The hotel is located immediately outside Rossypole station and it is very convenient to get to from Terminal 2 of the airport just because of the people mover that connects the different terminals. There is a train every 10 minutes, it is free and in less than 15 minutes from the time you get off the plane you are in the room.

The only flaw, but it applies to all these airport facilities, is that they are out of everything And far away from everyone. Translated: the hotel kitchen was already closed, the Executive Lounge empty, and no delivery service available. We were unable to have dinner.

Check-in and the room

The staff working in this hotel have a perfect idea of what guests are looking for: get to the room as soon as possible to go to sleep. In fact, the only question asked is whether you want an alarm clock.

The hotel is very large; the lobby is an immense open space that also incorporates the hotel bar, which is located in the center of the structure. On either side we have the breakfast room, the Executive Lounge and, on the opposite side, the conference rooms.

The panoramic elevators allow you to look at what is happening in the bar, and I must say that the structure, although not new, is still beautiful and scenic.

The rooms are very large. I have slept in this hotel a couple of times before, and I must admit that I have never had a "small" room.

Also, if you are lucky, you can also choose a room that overlooks the runway. It is not very close but still you can see some movement.

The bathroom is also large, but the whole room anyway is very generous. It's almost wasted all this space.

Breakfast

I was never able to take advantage of the executive lounge at this hotel. In fact, not even for breakfast, since it opens only in the afternoon/evening.

Breakfast is a huge self-service buffet. The new normal has now taught me that every hotel, even in the same city, has decided on its own minimum standard. Some have eliminated the buffet, some have diminished it, and some like this Hilton have brought everything back to the way it was in the "world before," or perhaps never changed their offerings.

The real flaw is that, given the type of structure, I would expect to be able to eat something in the evening even after 11 o'clock. At least at the bar. Instead, nothing, and here being outside the center is a negative factor: there are no restaurants much less delivery services coming to the hotel.

There is one possibility of a kebab/pizzeria - almost 40min away - that delivers, but I have never tried it.

In conclusion

There are many hotels in the CDG area. This is convenient because it is less than 5 minutes walk from CDGVal, that is the connection to terminals 1/2, it is free and runs every 5 minutes in both directions. Personally if the price is around 100€ I would choose it, if it is much more expensive I would fish from the other many opportunities in the area.
