As expected, access to what I, and many others, believe is one of the best lounges in the world Will not be included in the Skyteam package Now that Virgin Atlantic is a full member at 100%. Of the covenant.
The hope of gaining access to the London lounge was one of the novelties that all Elite + Skyteam members had been yearning for since forever. Unfortunately, however, the dream lasted less than a London/Amsterdam flight. This is not a random example, since Air France and KLM flights connecting London with Paris and Amsterdam take off from Terminal 3.
What are the rules of access to the SkyTeam Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse?
The key point is that the Clubhouse will not be the Skyteam flagship lounge for passengers of the alliance airlines. The only meager consolation is that the rules are different between the main one in London and others in the U.S. such as the equally beautiful lounge at JFK.
Due to space limitations, the Clubhouse at London Heathrow Terminal 3 is restricted to passengers with long-haul tickets only.
This means that you will not have access the Virgin Atlantic Heathrow Clubhouse regardless of status or cabin class. KLM and Air France will continue to use Club Aspire lounge at Heathrow: basically like comparing the Waldorf Astoria in Bangkok With a room in a hostel in Caracas.
Who can enter the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse lounge at Heathrow?
Anyone flying in the following cabins will automatically have access to the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse:
- Passengers Upper Class on Virgin Atlantic (including a guest)
- Passengers Delta One on Delta
- Passengers connecting to La Première with Air France (including a guest)
- Passengers Clase Premier on Aeroméxico
This means that all other SkyTeam business class passengers are excluded from access to this lounge.
Enter the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at Heathrow with SkyTeam status
Access for passengers with elite status has also been restricted. London lounge access is obtained only if:
- You hold Virgin Flying Club Gold status, flying on a Virgin Atlantic, Delta or Aeroméxico flight (including a guest)
- Delta SkyMiles Diamond or Platinum Medallion passengers, flying on a Virgin Atlantic or Delta flight (including a guest)
- Air France/KLM Flying Blue Platinum members, flying on a Virgin Atlantic or Delta flight (including a guest)
- Any SkyTeam Elite Plus member flying on a Virgin Atlantic, Delta or Aeroméxico flight
Then there are holders of a small selection of non-slyteam loyalty programs who will continue to have access to the London lounge, and they are:
- Virgin Australia Velocity Club Gold, Platinum and The Club members flying on Virgin Atlantic
- Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Gold, Solitaire PPS Club and PPS Club members flying Virgin Atlantic
- Air New Zealand Gold or Elite members flying on Virgin Atlantic to San Francisco.
SkyTeam Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse access rules around the world
In addition to the flagship Clubhouse at Heathrow, Virgin also operates six other Clubhouses internationally:
- Boston Logan Terminal E
- New York JFK Terminal 4
- Washington Dulles Terminal A
- San Francisco Terminal A
- Johannesburg OR Tambo Terminal A
The access rules for these clubhouses are less strict than at Heathrow.
In these lounges, all SkyTeam Elite Plus members can use the Clubhouses, as long as they are traveling on an international flight operated by a SkyTeam airline. This means that, for example, fly members flying from JFK on a Delta or KLM flight will have access to the lounge.
Then there is a lounge at Newark Liberty Terminal B that is operational, although the British airline long ago stopped flying into the New York area's second-largest airport.
