Rome, China Airlines' direct connection to Taipei restarted

The restoration of China Airlines' Rome-Taipei flight was celebrated yesterday at Leonardo da Vinci Airport, after the long stop due to the pandemic. To celebrate, Aeroporti di Roma set up the boarding gate with dedicated greeting and photo stations and a refreshment area for passengers.

The Rome/Taipei Flight

China Airlines' nonstop direct flight from Rome takes off three times a week - on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays - from Fiumicino Airport at 11:30 am. The early morning arrival in Taipei allows Italian travelers to reach all major destinations in the Far East and Oceania, in many cases with only one stopover, thanks to the airline's extensive global network.

Flights from Rome are operated by one of the most modern and high-tech aircraft currently flying, the Airbus A350-900 EWB, with 243 seats in Economy class, 31 in Premium Economy and 32 in Business. Speaking at the event were Federico Scriboni, ADR's Head of Aviation Business Development, and Pony Tung, China Airlines' new General Manager Italy, who expressed great satisfaction with the reopening of Rome-Taipei flights, a historic connection at Fiumicino airport since 1995.

Representing the institutions were Taiwan's Ambassador to the Holy See, H.E. Mattiew Lee and the Representative of the Taipei Representative Office in Italy, H.E. Vincent Tsai. All remarked how this is a new and long-awaited beginning with which to try to leave behind the difficult period of the global health emergency. Heartfelt wishes for the restoration of direct connections between Italy and Taiwan and the symbolic cutting of the cake, with toasts addressed to departing passengers, generated great suspense and enthusiasm among the travelers, who were given welcome gifts on board before boarding.
