Two days after theofficial opening of the Primeclass, today April 5, 2023, opened the Plaza Premium Lounge, the second lounge in the Asian network at this airport. Plaza Premium is present at Terminal 3 with the award-winning (and reviewed) lounge in the terminal dedicated to non-Schengen flights.
About Plaza Premium
In this article:
This group originated in Asia and today is one of the world's largest lounge operators, not only Was honored as the world's best independent theater network, but the lounge at London Heathrow terminal 2 was awarded as the absolute best in the world. If the first prize could fit, I absolutely disagree with the award to the albeit beautiful London lounge.
We have already reviewed so many lounges from this brand, From the small and ugly hall at Jeddah airport. to those in London e Kuala Lumpur.
Again, this is not meant to be a review, but a first visit on the occasion of the ribbon cutting.
The ceremony
Unlike nearby Primeclass, which had already been open for a few days, Plaza Premium opened today for only a few guests.
The ceremony was in grand style, with percussion and traditional Chinese lion ceremony, in addition to the more widespread ribbon cutting.
Location
This lounge, like all lounges at T1, is located in the mezzanine of the area connecting the two terminal piers. He stays behind the ITA Airways lounge.
Just go up a flight of escalators and it will be exactly on the right, impossible to miss. The fact that all the lounges are located in this area allows, if one is crowded, to move to the next one without wasting time. Truly a unique convenience and a great idea on the part of the designers of the new T1 to concentrate all the lounges in this spot Of the terminal.
Access
Le Plaza Premium lounge have been out, now for a couple of years, of the priority pass network and are therefore independent. Fortunately, however, they fall under the portfolio of lounges accessible to American Express Platinum-holding passengers (and additional) so a platinum holder will now have a minimum of two choices at T1, whereas until recently the only option was Prima Vista.
But things are bound to get even more interesting as in the coming weeks will open just such a new Prima Vista, further improving comfort for passengers departing from Italy's best airport
The lounge
The dimensions are identical to the other lounges, 410sq m. Only ITA Airways' will be larger and will also be the only one with an open view of the terminal.
Again. Is an open space overlooking the hallway and open ceiling on the terminal, a choice also forced by safety regulations.
With the exception of a small area immediately behind the reception desk, there are no secluded areas, protected environments where you can make a phone call or where you can simply be quiet and take a nap.
Decorative walls divide the room in two. The first houses the bar counter and a series of seats.
The second is the one that houses the buffet and an island with hot drink machines and a soft drink dispenser.
Services
It offers little, starting with the variety of seating. There are no chaise lounges, or other more comfortable armchairs in which to take a nap. There is no separate room in which to work in peace. The decision was made to aim to maximize capacity as much as possible by sacrificing design or comfort choices.
In conclusion
Day by day Fiumicino becomes more beautiful and functional, the lounges at T1 were what was missing to be truly a 5-star airport.
