Review Escape Lounge Sacramento, is the poor sister of a Centurion

American Express' Centurion Lounges Are among the best lounges in the world. Unfortunately, they are few and mainly concentrated in America. Then there is a second network of lounges also connected to Amex the escape lounges.

There are a total of 19 halls between the United States and England, and they are located at secondary airports. Not in terms of numbers, since some of these could easily enter the top 10 Italian airports by traffic starting with London Standset or Fort Lauderdale, the second airport for the Miami area.

Location

The lounge is located immediately after the security checkpoint on the left. The airport in Sacramento, California's capital city, is not very large and in fact there are no lounges other than this one. There are no other official or independent lounges connected to Priority Pass or other networks.

Access

Admission is charged for all passengers departing on the day and Is free for American Express Platinum cardholders. The access rules are the same as those in place for centurion lounges, so for us Italians this means one free guest in addition to the owner, although it says two guests outside.

Of course, if you travel with a Supplementary Platinum the benefit doubles and you will be able to enter 4 without paying anything.

The lounge

There is not much to say, it is a small lounge. It is divided into 3 small rooms. The best one is the smallest one near the glass window overlooking the terminal.

Then there is the food area, with a few small tables and the ever-present bar counter, and finally a smaller room with about 20 seats of different kinds. There is also a television here where traditional channels are broadcast.

As stated, does not have much to offer, not even services.

Food & Beverage

I stopped by early in the morning on my way to Dallas, when I arrived the lounge was practically deserted, 10 minutes later it was full as an egg. There is a small buffet, with a really basic offering of both food and drinks.

There was a (broken) coffee machine and various juice dispensers, very little stuff.

The only thing of note is the bar counter where you can have a boubon at 7 a.m., exactly as we see in any star-studded movie or TV series.

In conclusion

You could say that even Amex sometimes fails to do everything perfectly. I had to wait 20 minutes, so in the end I didn't have much trouble. Of course, at least I would have had coffee.
