Etihad Airways unveils new Business for B787 Dreamliners

Etihad Airways has unveiled new Business Class seats for its 39 aircraft B787 Dreamliner in the fleet. The occasion, as in the case of Saudia and FlyDubai, was the annual Arabian Travel Market underway in Dubai. The new seats will debut in the third quarter of this year when the carrier plans to take delivery of three more Dreamliners.

More Privacy in Business

Eithad chose the seat Elements by Collins for its Business and is the first airline to select these seats for the Dreamliners with a new customized version that "forced" Emirates to increase the height of the suite, the same as on the A350s.

"The new seats will provide guests with a comfortable and spacious environment" with added privacy provided by a door that allows the suite to be closed almost completely. Each of the 32 seats Business, also has direct access to the corridor with the cabin designed in a 1-2-1 configuration.

The chairs recline to become a fully reclining bed 78 inches long and feature a 17.3-inch 4K TV screen; as well as Bluetooth service for headphones, several Usb charging ports and multiple spaces for personal items.

The New Economy

Etihad also unveiled new Economy seats that offer 271 seats in the B787. The seats provide more comfort and a more spacious feel "created by the Intelligent design and from new technologies", including a slimmer armrest. Finally, Economy guests can also enjoy a wide range of entertainment on the monitor 13.3″ 4K touch-screen which also includes a the Usb port.

Technology on board

The new 787 Dreamliner offers the latest in-flight entertainment technology developed by Safran. Exciting new features include Rave Ultra 4K monitors, Bluetooth headset pairing, and the ability to pair personal phones and tablets with the screen and use them as remote controls.

The 787 Dreamliner also features a new connectivity solution from Viasat using Ka-band technology that offers high-speed wifi with onboard streaming capabilities and Live Tv, including news and sports channels. Also provided on board is the Etihad E-BOX which offers hundreds of hit movies "from Hollywood to Bollywood," TV shows, music, podcasts, and games.

Antonoaldo Neves, chief executive officer of Etihad Airways, stressed:

"Etihad's new 787 Dreamliner cabin features further improvements to our cabins, and our new Business class takes the guest experience to new levels with the second evolution of the Business Studio that was launched on the Airbus A350-1000 last year. This is a year of growth for us: in addition to improvements to our onboard experience and new aircraft coming to the fleet, we have announced new routes including Calcutta last month, Lisbon, Malaga and Mykonos this summer, and Copenhagen and Dusseldorf in the fourth quarter."
