As is well known Emirates has launched in recent months a partnership with United, Star Alliance company, So it is not surprising that the announcement came from Canada which formalizes an agreement between the Canadian flag carrier and Fly Dubai, a low-cost carrier owned by Emirates.
The agreement
The collaboration between Air Canada and flydubai will result in the activation of reciprocal codeshares between the two companies, a solution that will allow passengers traveling between Canada, the Middle East, East Africa, the Indian subcontinent and South Asia more convenient travel options.

Initially, nine routes will be operated from Dubai by flydubai in code share with Air Canada. The main advantage will be to travel with the issuance of a single ticket. Routes include the Middle Eastern cities of Medina, Dammam, Bahrain, Jeddah and Muscat, as well as flights to Colombo and Karachi in the Indian subcontinent.
In addition, through an interline agreement, customers will be able to connect seamlessly in Dubai to more than 60 destinations flydubai flies to in the Middle East, East Africa and South Asia, including Kathmandu, Djibouti and the Maldives. Of these destinations, more than 30 are exclusive to flydubai and are not flown by other Air Canada partners.
The airlines also plan to further improve the connection process in Dubai and are working to introduce features and expanded benefits for reciprocal loyalty program members to be announced later this year.
