It was Air France that was the star performer, among Western European airlines., of the 2023 edition of the Skytrax Awards, the Oscars of commercial aviation. The transalpine carrier was voted 'Best Airline in Western Europe' and worldwide gained one position over 2022, moving from eighth to seventh position.
Much of the success owes to the very high standards of its First Class product, Premiere. Which was awarded as the best in the world in the categories 'Best First Class Airport Lounge" (The one in Terminal 2E at Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport.), 'Best First Class Airline Lounge Catering' and 'Best First Class Onboard Catering'.
Primacy in the latter two categories is further celebration of how well people drink and eat both on the ground and on board when traveling in First with Air France.
The French airline placed second in the 'World's Best First Class Airlines' ranking, behind Singapore Airlines but ahead of All Nippon Airways, Swiss, Emirates and Cathay Pacific.
Credit to the chauffeur service offered free of charge; of the fantastic 1,000-square-meter lounge at CDG Terminal 2E; of the exceptional catering on the ground and in the air; of the car service that takes departing passengers from the lounge to the plane and arriving passengers from the plane to the arrivals; and of the four suites positioned aboard 19 of the 42 Boeing 777-300ERs in the fleet..

And, because one should not rest on one's laurels, French airline is working on designing a totally new La Premiere cabin, which will debut in the skies next year. Suites will decrease from the current four (with a 1+2+1 layout) to three (likely 1+1+1) and each will be equipped with a seat, chaise longue, and bed. The new cabin will be available on more aircraft in the fleet than at present.
Air France also placed seventh among 'World's Best Business Class Airlines' (second in Europe behind Virgin Atlantic), eighth among 'World's Best Premium Economy Airlines' (second in Europe also behind Virgin Atlantic) and 16th among 'World's Best Economy Class Airlines.
