We already have a review of this hotel on our website, one of our readers in the midst of covid sent us an account of his stay on the eve of a trip to the U.S., when moving was complicated, and moving to the U.S. was a matter for the few.

In this article:

Today, however, we are back in the former world, or in the new normal, and this hotel has long since returned to full capacity. Marriott has a "monopoly" on Malpensa's two terminals.

This Sheraton presides over terminal 1 while the Moxy is outside T2 recently reopened to Easyjet flights.

You could get up to 600€ compensation per person

That's why I decided to update the situation with this trip report.

    Reservation

Mine was a last minute booking, health problems and plane jams altered my schedule and in the end I booked at this facility in anticipation of my flight the next day. Unfortunately, the prices are not cheap and one night cost me a whopping €300, really a lot. The facilities around the airport were not that much cheaper and so I decided to book in this hotel also to take full advantage of the American Express offer.

A cashback of €100 against €300 spent at Marriott facilities in Italy and Europe. This is one of many American Express offers that allow you to amortize the cost of the paper and, at the end of the year, even make a profit.

Considering that in addition to membership rewards points, spending also earns me Bonovoy points, it is a win-win operation.

    Check-in

The hotel is huge, impossible to miss if you have departed from Malpensa at least once. The facility is right in front of the terminal and is directly connected to the air terminal.

The check-in desk is appropriately sized, let's say it's the size of a basketball court, or maybe more. I arrived, unloaded my bags, and headed for check-in. I left my luggage in custody and went to park at P3, which is just across the street.

Of course, I could have taken advantage of the hotel park., but for a long stay it is not convenient. On the other hand, if you come back within 24 hours, it is perfect for scoring points even with parking.

    The room

The biggest flaw in this hotel is definitely the total lack of view of the slopes: doesn't seem to be close to an airport, you can't even hear takeoffs and landings.

My room was with a P3 parking lot view.

Probably the best possible since the others face other rooms or parking lots and the outside of T1.

The structure is huge, there are over 400 rooms, more than 20 meeting rooms and numerous other spaces to handle events of all kinds.

This time I was full of baggage and in addition to my inseparable Level8 aluminum suitcase I also had my new trunk on wheels, also Level8. A brand I just discovered and I'm enjoying it so much.  Here is a discount code TFC10 Which gives an additional discount of 10%..

My room on the third floor was just as large, in fact in a normal hotel we would probably get two rooms in the same square footage. King bed, maxi TV and windowed wall.

Completing the decor is a small sofa, a large desk and little else. In the room the classic equipment, we are however in a 4-star hotel. Iron, safe, and mini-bar.

    sheraton_malpensa0049 sheraton_malpensa0052

The minibar is stocked and automated, so beware: if you touch it, you pay. No plastic bottles, not even for complimentary water, which is instead served in the personalized "Milan" tetrapak.

Large bathroom with shower (inside the tub) and little presence of plastic.

    The Spa

    sheraton_malpensa0069 sheraton_malpensa0067

For a hotel near the airport, this Sheraton stands out from many others in what it offers. A spa, with a massage center.

    sheraton_malpensa0068
    sheraton_malpensa0065 sheraton_malpensa0064

Indoor pool and a gymnasium, both with a parking lot view. If they had runway view it would be to take up residence within these walls.

    The Club Lounge

On the second floor there is also the lounge for holders of Platinum level or higher in the Bonvoy program. It is open until late in the evening, and I must say it is one of the best I have found in similar hotels, mercilessly compared with the Marriott Heathrow.

Different products, not taken for granted, not just boring sandwiches, but sophisticated appetizers. Bravo.

    Restaurant

I did not dine in the hotel, however, I tried breakfast in the main restaurant of the facility.

Old-fashioned staff, courtesy and attention, a stuff that has almost disappeared these days. The offerings are varied; I wasn't craving a savory breakfast so I didn't ask if there were any express options.

There is an island with the hot offering and a cold buffet around the main counter in the room. There is everything one looks for from such a facility, although the price definitely affects the final judgment.

    In conclusion

If you want to sleep inside Malpensa it is definitely the only option. Of course, the Moxy at T2 is definitely cheaper, but you have to move your car. If then one can move, the options are various, starting with the two Hiltons a short distance away and definitely cheaper, but the tranquility of sleeping inside the airport is priceless.

    The verdict
At the right price it is a perfect hotel, too bad that it is usually never priced below 250 euros, and at this rate it is way overpriced for what you have to do in a facility like this: sleep. Around the Milan airport there are many other alternatives, I was just there to take advantage of Amex's cashback promo and put a nice pile of Bonvoy points in my pocket with the discount.
