Breaking the news was The Times of London, so I would say a more than reliable source.
"Hundreds of millions of pounds will be spent to refurbish 12 A380s BA's double-decker superjumbos.. This is an airplane so popular with passengers that most airlines make it their flagship, but, under Cruz, it has become BA's oldest jet. It will have a new first class, perhaps for the first time on the upper deck, the popular new business-class Club Suite, also on the upper floor, and new premium economy and economy cabins.
So to the British newspaper Sean Doyle, CEO of British Airways, who is unabashed in criticizing the work of his predecessor Alex Cruz.
After the disastrous summer of 2022, things in London and at British Airways seem to be looking decidedly better.
Today the A380s of BA are set up with the worst of what the British airline has to offer. While the ticket is sold at the same price as a flight operated aboard the rest of the fleet.
In contrast on A350 and on the 777 shines the beautiful business class cabin and on many 777s the new first-class suite is also installed, one step beyond the current cabin also installed on A380s.
"There is a huge focus on generating the unique British service we need," says Doyle. All staff are being retrained and encouraged to "show their originality." To drive home the message, BA's new advertising slogan is "A British original."
This surprise move ensures more years of honored service for A380s of British Airways, planes that with the final grounding of 747s, have become the flagship of the fleet, and now that they will be renovated they will shine even brighter.
