Alitalia stocks are finished and, on board long-haul aircraft, new beauty kits, the first branded ITA Airways, have appeared these days.
Out of stock
As we had documented in our long-haul flights with ITA Airways, since last spring business class (and premium economy) passengers receive an Alitalia-branded beauty kit on board. A choice I had found to be absolutely correct in ecological and economic terms. They did not end up in landfills and the company was able to save a cost in the first months of their life.
The Ferragamo/Alitalia one was, in my personal opinion, one of the best never appeared on Italian planes, but also one of the most beautiful distributed by the various companies around the world. Those who read TFC often know very well that are items I collect and often raffle off duplicates in quizzes I give to subscribers to the weekly newsletter .
The same was the case with premium economy passengers who received the envelope branded Diesel, Alitalia's last partner before the crash. Envelopes long since finished, since. On the occasion of my trip to Washington, I had not received anything, just nothing, on board. I have no idea if the new sachets have also arrived in for these passengers, but I hope so.
New, double, kit
Some of our readers in recent hours have reported to us the presence of a new amenity kit aboard ITA's aircraft, and we were very surprised by this novelty also because it was not announced in any way by the Italian company. Usually companies are always very careful to take advantage of the novelty, but evidently between credit cards and other initiatives there was no time to spread the news.
Aesthetically, it is definitely different, and not for the better, compared to what was previously distributed, especially in a reuse key. For example, one of Ferragamo's clutches is now the pouch of my daughter's Ipad, another is in my suitcase as a cable holder, as well as the centerpiece of my collection.
Actually, the kit is divided into two. The clutch bag is those sand in continuity with the clear environments of ITA's planes and contains the classic equipment, without any fancy cues:
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Eye mask
- Socks
- Earplugs
Content is kept to a bare minimum: Lacks a comb or pen (useful, for example, for filling out arrival cards in Japan) , But as mentioned though, there are two kits.
Aesthetically, the envelope reminds me of the envelope distributed by other companies such as Air France and KLM, as well highlighted it is a sustainable and environmentally friendly beauty, the only presence of plastic is the toothpaste tube, again there are alternative solutions as I happened to find on different carriers, which give the toothpaste in tablet form Inside a paper bag.
Then there is a second item, a kind of terry towel branded QCterme.
Once unrolled there are six aluminum tubes containing:
- Intensive hand butter
- Body cream
- Face cream
- Shampoo
- Exfoliating shower gel
- Hair conditioner
This is the "light" version of a travel kit that QC Terme sells at its locations and online. Compared to the one that can be bought at a cost of about 20 euros it lacks the bar of soap, the intimate gel, and the beauty kit. Unlike the small clutch bag this kit is not branded ITA in any way.
In conclusion
I guess many people will be ready to say "this sucks...," "it was better when the old Alitalia was here," but you have to be honest all carriers are going, unfortunately, toward such products. Personally, I hate this obsessive greenwashing, when then it is other things that pollute. Of course the aesthetics are nowhere near as good as the previous one, but at the end of the day, substance counts, and the two kits together are very generous.
I am not familiar with the products, so I am waiting to fly in business with ITA to get an idea about the quality of what is offered.
