There is more and more talk about the sustainability of air transport, companies are experimenting with alternative fuels such as SAF, are increasingly focused on reducing waste, using compostable products, and against wasting resources, on the ground as well as in the air.
Relieving booths of unnecessary "stuff," reducing paper use, and decreasing food waste are just some of the actions we have seen in recent years. Even unpopular and low impact choices such as those of Eliminate frequent flyer cards.
Jetblue is a different carrier
Borrowing a claim from a well-known TV commercial, it could be said that JetBlue is different. First because it flies intercontinental, between the U.S. and Europa (London, Paris and Amsterdam) using only A321lr outfitted in two classes: business and economy.
Second because the fittings of both cabins are iconic, business class is called Mint and offers a 1-1 configuration with passengers being seated in a small suite, complete with a door that isolates the passenger from the rest of the cabin.
Economy, in the classic 3-3 configuration offers the first rows with a higher pitch, that is, a few extra centimeters for the legs and nothing else. In compensation free wi-fi on board for all, ultra fast, only on La Compagnie have I found a faster connection in recent years.
Every seat has a screen, and Jetblue's IFE truly offers everything from movies to live TV channels (I watched the NLF conference final) and many serial products.
JetBlue all digital company
When I flew, transatlantic, with the American company.. Carrier that currently does not fly to Italy, but it is not excluded that it will arrive during the summer of 2024, I appreciated their board policy.
Flying with less than 130 passengers, the service is carried out with only 3 flight attendants. And to optimize time, the passenger is encouraged to place the order for the magiare via the screen, although at the moment the paper menu is still distributed to Mint Class passengers, the whole procedure for ordering lunch is digitized.
Normally it is a cabin attendant who asks each passenger what you want to eat, when and how. In this case it is all handled by the passenger.
The procedure
As soon as you board the seat you will find menus (in recycled paper) and a list of cocktails. In fact, there is always a flight attendant on board who has taken a mixology course, and cocktails can also be shaken on board.
The passenger can then independently choose what to eat, just compose the menu by choosing from the various options. Of course I sometimes happened to get two appetizers or two main dishes, which is not feasible in this mode, but otherwise this solution is really perfect.
The passenger sees the dishes, not only with a name, but also aesthetically. He composes his tray and chooses when to be served.
Being an overnight flight, taking off in the late afternoon from T5 at JFK and arriving in Europe early in the morning, breakfast is also served. And here again the American airline stands out from the competition. The passenger has the choice of eating breakfast, again composing his or her own tray, or he or she can choose to sleep until last by ordering a packed breakfast.
Just as when you check out of the hotel before breakfast opens you can ask to have a small snack, similarly the company has thought of giving this option to passengers and receive a bag upon disembarkation with some products to start the day with the right amount of calories.
In conclusion
It would be very nice to see this livery in Italian skies, Milan is smoothly within the range of JetBlue's A321lr, although Malpensa/New York is super busy with 7 carriers connecting the two areas, as many as on the busiest in the world that is London/New York.
JetBlue does not participate in any alliance, but has several partnerships I for example when I fly with this airline I always put my Singapore Airlines card, because as I always say not a single point should be left on the street.
