As reported by Asianews, As of next August, the lengths of tourist stays in Vietnam will change. Holders of a valid passport to obtain a visa on arrival will be able to stay up to 45 days without any problem, instead of the previous 15.

The government said that "since the implementation of the e-visa pilot phase in 2017, the number of foreigners applying for e-visas has been increasing. However, due to the current short duration of 30 days for e-visas, it has not attracted foreigners as expected."
Regarding the extension of the duration of temporary residence permits at border crossings from 15 days to 45 days, the government says that through studies of travel trends, tourists from markets such as Europe often have longer vacations than 15 days.
