Ita Airways is the airline that was awarded the tender. called in recent months by Enac to operate on the Milan Linate-Trieste-Milan Linate route. The connection had been announced a few weeks ago by CEO of Trieste Airport, Marco Consalvo, who, however, had not disclosed the identity of the operator.
Ita Airways Will begin flying between the two airports in northern Italy on Sept. 1 and will do so for at least three years, i.e., until August 31, 2026, as stipulated in the tender issued by Enac. Tickets, on sale since yesterday, can be purchased for now to fly until October 28, that is, until the end of the so-called summer schedule. Those for the following months will also be put on sale shortly
As Friuli Venezia Giulia is a special-status region, as with flights to Sardinia, flights to Trieste also provide special fares for residents of Friuli Venezia Giulia: for those among them who book within ten days of the scheduled date of travel, the ticket for a single route (Milan-Trieste or Trieste-Milan) will start at a price of 55 euros plus taxes, or about 68 euros. Then a maximum of 125 euros plus taxes. There is an exception for those who are students under 27 or over 65 and traveling for health reasons: for them (again if they are residents of Friuli) the one-way fare will be 49 euros.
The schedule has also been prepared to facilitate traffic from Friuli as much as possible, with the possibility of a same-day round trip: during weekdays, from Monday to Friday, there will be two daily flights, departing Trieste Ronchi dei Legionari at 7.30 a.m. and 1 p.m. (and arriving at Linate at 8.35 a.m. and 2.05 p.m., respectively); from Linate to Trieste there will be takeoffs at 11.15 a.m. and 8.05 p.m., arriving at 12.15 p.m. and 9.05 p.m. On Saturdays and Sundays, on the other hand, there will be only one flight, departing for Milan at 8 a.m. (and arriving at 9.05 a.m.) and returning from Linate also at 8.05 p.m. (a schedule, this one, very good for those wishing to travel to Milan for a weekend of tourism or shopping).
The flights will be operated with Airbus A319s in two classes, Economy and Superior. For several months, ITA Airways and the Friuli Venezia Giulia region have entered into a business partnership, which sees one of the company's A320s flying with a two-tone white and blue livery and the inscription 'I am Friuli Venezia Giulia'.
