Like many, I belong to that segment of users who love to travel, but work-wise they almost only travel by car and takes about fifteen flights a year, thus not falling under frequent flyer status.

Complicated with a points multiplier offer, I decided to upgrade from my Gold and try amex Platinum for 1 year, to see if indeed, the benefits were for me, despite the few flights.

I just applied for it on July 15, 2022, sure that I would use the priority pass for me and my girlfriend on the summer trip. And so it was, entering beautiful lounges in Singapore and Abu Dhabi, as well as Doha (complete with a shower done in the lounge, a benefit that will allow you to enjoy your vacation until the last moment).

Well, as well as opening doors to a variety of lounges around airports, my American Express Platinum kindly treated me to a delicious dinner on the terrace of the Sol & Luna restaurant., on the 17th floor of a Skyscraper in downtown Singapore, magnificent place.

Over the months ho used a variety of promotions That would help me lower the cost, to an effortless redemption of €1133.08 with 16 different promos over 12 months, and basically, almost all of them for eating and dressing. 

It has granted to try Bistrot Cannavaciuolo in Turin, and to have some upgrades (on higher floors), in the Hilton and Marriott chains.

I did not have a chance to test, fortunately, travel insurance, but we would have to add it to the savings obtained, not having signed up for one on purpose pre-departure.

I did test the readiness of the anti-fraud office, however, when I found charges *uber a few weeks ago while I was sitting on the couch; within a few minutes they made the reversal, blocked the old card and sent me the new one.

In addition to all the above, if you know how to take advantage of the "invite a friend bonus" properly, who knows, Maybe Amex Platinum will take you to Zanzibar at Christmas., allowing you to take a 12-day vacation paying only for the small hotel near the beach....

One thing I can tell you, when you start to travel with the Platinum, you will never want to part with it again.
