Some interesting promises are popping up in recent weeks by several airlines, but the one just launched by Virgin Atlantic falls into one of those to be evaluated very carefully.
Up to 20k Flying Club points for free

Book any round-trip flight by September 4, 2023, for travel between September 1, 2023 and May 31, 2024, and you will receive:
- 5,000 bonus Virgin points if you fly Economy
- 10,000 bonus Virgin Points if you fly in Premium
- 20,000 bonus Virgin points if you fly Upper Class
The promotion is also valid in the case of a one-way ticket, in which case a half bonus as is logical. On balance Silver and Gold Flying Club members earn an additional 30% and 60%, respectively Of Virgin points on flights.
How to use 20k FC points
If 20k points seems low I can say that this is definitely not the case. With a round-trip ticket to New York in upper class, that's what VS's business is called, you get at least 60k points, if you have the Gold level the same ticket, including the bonus, can add up to just under 90k miles in the Virgin loyalty program.

To qualify for this offer you must already be or become a member of Virgin Atlantic Flying Club. If you are not already a Flying Club member you can sign up here. Current Flying Club members do not need to register for this offer.
Offer valid for flights booked and issued between 00:01 GMT on August 24, 2023 and 23:59 GMT on September 4, 2023, for travel between September 1, 2023 and May 31, 2024.
Valid for travel in Economy Classic (including Economy Classic and Economy Delight, but excluding Economy Light), Premium and Upper Class.
During the offer period, Flying Club members will be eligible to earn the following bonus Virgin Points per round trip: Economy - 5,000 Virgin Points; Premium - 10,000 Virgin Points; Superior - 20,000 Virgin Points. Half of the Virgin Points will be awarded for each leg of round-trip or one-way travel.
Virgin bonus points are applicable and will be credited to each Flying Club member traveling with the reservation.
Bonus points will appear as separate transactions in the member's online account.
Virgin standard and bonus points will be automatically credited to the member's Flying Club account within 5 days of completing the qualifying flight.
Award seat reservations are excluded; however, Points Plus Money reservations entitle you to bonus Virgin points.
To qualify for the bonus, flights must be operated and marketed by Virgin Atlantic (flight number begins with VS). Codeshare flights and partner airline flights are excluded from this offer.
Reservations made during the promotional period and subsequently changed to new departure dates, outside of those specified in this offer, will no longer qualify for this offer and members will not receive bonus points for these reservations.
Existing reservations (for travel outside the promotional period) changed with dates within the promotional period will not be eligible for this offer.
If you use Virgin Points or a credit card voucher to upgrade your income class for a reservation made before the promotional period, you will receive standard and bonus Virgin Points based on the income class you originally paid for, not the upgraded reward class. If you use Virgin Points or a credit card voucher to upgrade your income class for a reservation made during the promotional period, you will receive standard and bonus Virgin Points based on the updated income class.
