Emirates, order from home to be sure to eat what you want (but not if you leave from Milan)

If there is one thing I have never endured, in any class of travel, it is that of Not having the choice of dish at lunch/dinner, because my chosen one is finished. It happened to me in all cabins, countless times in economy, but also several times in premium cabins, even on board of Emirates First Class I heard myself saying, "Sorry we have exhausted this option."
In this article:
I am obviously not talking about dishes for special diets or those prepared according to precise religious dictates, but more simply those that are pulled out of the food cart.
A couple of times I was joined at the seat by a flight attendant to request my preference and allow me to eat what I liked, a little attention related to status and which I find in this situation I find very welcome.
On which routes is the service
The news is that Emirates, after experimenting with the in-flight lunch reservation service on London, has decided to extend this possibility to on many European routes. For Italy, the novelty will affect flights from Fiumicino, Bologna and Venice. Surprisingly, travelers on flights from Milan Malpensa will not have this option.
The other cities where the service will be offered are: Warsaw, Prague, Vienna, Moscow, Istanbul, Dublin, Hamburg, St. Petersburg, Brussels, and Madrid, as well as to and from Seychelles and Mauritius. The initiative will be expanded to more global routes in the coming months.
A similar service is offered, for the same reasons, by many other companies, and in this case I totally agree with the companies: happy, full-bellied passengers and less alimnetare waste.
How the service works
The new service allows Business Class passengers to pre-select their main course between 14 days and 24 hours prior to flight departure, ensuring they get their preferred choice every time and helping to reduce food waste. So this is not a proposal like Singapore Airlines' book the cook., but simply the ability to know what will be offered on board and opt for the dish you prefer.
On board the plane, cabin crew will use digital devices to display the pre-ordered selection and serve the passenger the chosen dish. Meal preordering is an addition to the existing suite of customer preference tracking data enabled artificial intelligence and cabin crew reports on board Emirates, facilitating menu planning, optimal food loading and waste minimization.
