Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL)announced today that. will introduce more than 1,000 single cabins on the entire 19-ship fleet.
As of the week of October 2, 2023, the Company's Will open for sale for the first time ever three new categories of single cabins, including Solo Inside, Solo Oceanview and Solo Balcony available for future cruises starting January 2, 2024. With prices and availability varying according to destination and demand, individual passengers can expect to pay a lower fare than a traditional double cabin, single use.
"We strive to provide our guests with diverse offerings to create their dream vacation," said David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line. "Since we first launched our single staterooms in 2010 with Norwegian Epic, they have quickly become very popular. We are always attentive to our guests' needs to provide the experience they want. After seeing the growing demand from people choosing to travel alone, we have now expanded single staterooms across our entire fleet."
Guests staying in the new cabin categories will also have access to the Studio Lounge, available on a selection of ships, offering a dedicated space for relaxation, a bar with beer and wine, and a variety of snacks served daily. In addition to their own lounge, guests can enjoy dedicated activities for single travelers to socialize. With the introduction of single staterooms on all 19 ships in the fleet (previously only available on nine ships), single travelers will have more opportunities to visit destinations on their bucket list such as Asia, Africa, Australia and New Zealand aboard ships that previously did not offer this category of stateroom.
This announcement responds to the increasing popularity of singles travel, with a growing trend. According to a'Travelport survey, singles travel accounted for nearly 18% of global bookings. More recently, in statistics on singles travel, Radical Storage recorded a 267% increase in online searches for the term "singles travel" between December 2020 and April 2022. Also, from 2019 to 2022, NCL observed an increase in guests booking single occupancy cabins in double occupancy cabins.
