Emirates has announced that the new premium economy cabin will be introduced to two new destinations where the Dubai-based carrier operates the A380, the only model that currently features the new class.
As of Nov. 19, all flights operated to São Paulo and as of Dec. 20 to Tokyo Narita will be operated, barring any problems, with only A380s set up in 4 classes: first, business, premium, and traditional economy, meaning that only freshly restyled A380s will be used.
Emirates' new premium economy destinations
St. Paul will become the fifth point of the airline in the North and South American network where flights will operate with the new cabin class, while Tokyo Narita will become the second gateway into Emirates' Far East network offering its latest cabin product, with extra legroom, premium features and services.
As the airline's retrofit program accelerates and the product extends to more routes on its network, São Paulo will become the 13th city where Emirates will operate its newly retrofitted A380 flagship aircraft, while the number of destinations offering Premium Economy will grow to 14 with the addition of Tokyo Narita. In addition to introducing the new Premium Economy seats, the upgraded aircraft that will operate on the routes also boast Revamped interiors that provide an elevated experience in all other cabins, with a new look.
Starting Nov. 19, travelers who fly between Dubai and São Paulo will be able to book Emirates Premium Economy seats on EK261/262, which will initially be available three times a week, and then become daily flights in December. Premium Economy on Flights EK318/319, to and from Tokyo Narita, will be launched as a daily offer starting Dec. 20.
The aircraft, which will be operated on the routes in a four-class configuration, have 56 seats in Premium Economy, located at the front of the main deck and arranged in a 2-4-2 configuration, as well as 338 seats in Economy Class , 76 in Business Class and 14 suites in First Class.
For Italian passengers still no PE
Emirates currently flies its A380s with Premium Economy seats to global destinations including London Heathrow, Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Christchurch, Singapore, Los Angeles, New York JFK, Houston and San Francisco. From October 29, Premium Economy will also debut on Emirates flights to Mumbai and Bangalore.
In Italy, the new cabins are expected to arrive with the 2024 summer operation, when hopefully the Milan/New York flight will return operated with the freshly refurbished A380. As of today, it is possible that some routes between Dubai and Milan/Rome will be operated with the refurbished A380s, but as a matter of commercial policy, Emirates waits until it is certain that it will fly only with refurbished machines before making the new cabin official; this results in free upgrades of some passengers from economy to PE.
