The news previewed by Bloomberg has been confirmed by the airline, Akbar Al Baker, one of the world's leading aviation executives, will retire as CEO of Qatar Airways after nearly 30 years.
Al Baker is not just a CEO, but was the one who took office in 1997, three years after the airline's launch, managed to create from nothing a carrier that for several years was voted the best airline in the world, in addition to his role as the company's #1 the 61-year-old is also the CEO of Qatar Airport, which was also the world's best airport for two years.
