Looking for a credit card to add to your wallet? Today I want to compare two papers that have invaded the Italian scene in recent months and have been activated by thousands and thousands of people. Both of these cards are issued by Advanzia a Luxembourg bank that operates in several European markets, including Italy.
From Germany to Spain, via Italy of course, there are several markets where the Mastercard credit cards are issued, and since Mastercard along with Visa is the most widely accepted circuit in the world there is no need to worry whether or not this card will, or will not, be accepted for payments in Italy and the rest of the world.
You Gold card free for life
This was the first paper to land in Italy. It is a payment instrument that relies on the existing checking account and, if used in balance, costs the holder nothing. There is no issuance cost or monthly fee to be incurred. It is requested in 5 minutes by simply filling out the form and within 24/48 hours you will have the outcome of the file and once you have completed the invitation of the documentation you will have a free Gold Mastercard in your wallet for life.
Miles & More Gold Lufthansa 6 months free then 6€/month
New holders will be able to Take advantage of the Miles & More Mastercard Gold card for free for the first six months, from the 7th month onward the monthly fee of the card will be €6, or €72 per year. No cost will be incurred by the cardholder for sending the card home, there will be no collection fees or costs for any blocking of the card.
The first thing to know
These cards are two very similar products, but profoundly different from each other. Unfortunately, there is one major flaw (at least until it is fixed) one can be a holder of only one of the two cards. If you are a cardholder of either, regardless of which one was first activated, and at the moment you cannot even switch from one card to the other and you cannot cancel one to apply for the other, without letting at least 12 months pass between cancellation and new application.
What they have in common
- Plafonds and spending limits As with other credit cards on the Italian market, it does not have a set ceiling; however, it starts from a minimum of €1,500. Credit that changes according to the behavior of the holder. There is a daily withdrawal limit of 1,000€, while the other limits will be set by Advanzia Bank based on the applicant's profile.
- They are both two Mastercard Gold cards which can be requested indifferently by the applicant's bank and can then be backed by the current account.
- Fee-free for overseas use unlike many other credit cards that charge a fee for payments in currencies other than the euro use these cards do not charge additional fees at the current exchange rate.
- Interest-free payment on purchases up to 7 weeks and deferred payment option. It is the cardholder, once the card is received, who decides how to use it. Balance payment every month or activate the flexible split payment option. In this case, fractioning the balance will be subject to payment of the current interest, as specified on the
- Travel insurance. Both cards have "small" coverage that kicks in in case of serious accidents while traveling, it is not true contingency coverage, but it is better than nothing and is included in the card
How they stand out
Both are perfect for those who want a card that can be used every day, that does not cost (or costs little), and that adds to the other cards they hold by increasing their spending options. While You Gold card is free for life, Lufthansa's card has specific benefits for those who want to accumulate points in the German airline's loyalty program.
Must choose Miles&More card Those who travel (even a little) and want to take advantage of not only the 30,000-point superbonus, enough for a free ticket to the U.S., of the opportunity to take advantage of the two benefits of this card viz. Accumulate points with each euro spent and freeze the expiration of points, which would instead happen inexorably every 36 months.
Which one to request
Personally, I would opt for the Miles&More card, but like so many I cannot request it because I own the You Gold card, which for what it costs is the best credit card on the Italian market,
