In the cover image of this article I immortalized the two opposites: David (A321) vs. Goliath (A380), actually there would also be in the middle the "third wheel" of Neos' Dreamliner, but it is not equipped with a business class cabin so it does not participate in the tussle.

Uncertainty ITA Airways

The only route that ITA flies from Malpensa is precisely the flight to New York, flown except in extremely exceptional cases, with vecchi A330/200 inherited from Alitalia and now painted Savoy blue.
As we have shown in our videos this A330 is equipped with the beautiful cabin that Alitalia called Magnifica, beautiful but lived-in, a product light years inferior to the rest of ITA Airways' new long-haul fleet. Poor privacy, little space for personal storage, old IFE, wi-fi working every other day and not at all performant.
Emirates' worst business class
Of course, one could say that Emirates still offers a "solid" package. With the beautiful lounge at Malpensa And an equally important 777/300. Absolutely true, however, the 777 is not the A380. It does not offer the space of the Airbus giant, it does not allow passengers to stretch their legs in the plane's bar, and most importantly it seats 7 passengers per row of business class seats, one of the worst cabins flying over European skies.
Unfortunately, Until Emirates receives the new planes. the experience on board these planes will be significantly less than on the A380s, but still sold for the same price (either cash or points), because there is no economic difference between a route operated on a 777 or an A380, while life on board from economy to first for the passenger is very, very, different.
La Compagnie's Right of Way
The French carrier is a rarity, can no longer be called a unicum since it will take off tomorrow Beond's first flight from Germany to the Maldives.. It flies an A321 outfitted with only business class seats, fully reclining. Unlike Emirates and ITA it flies to Newark, an airport that has definitely been improved in recent years.

As mentioned, competition on this route is intense, but the three American sisters are really uninteresting from the point of view of product (read seat quality), ground offerings (La Compagnie's own lounge), catering, and airplane age. So here it is that if I were to fly, this winter 2023, from Milan to New York in business class, I would have no doubt in choosing La Compagnie.
